About Tiffany

The founder of Tiffany’s Tough Training is Tiffany Sheerin. Tiffany is a force to be reckoned with, a supreme motivator who is passionate about health and fitness. Her story is inspiring and is proof that achieving your fitness goals is the key to a better, healthier YOU.

Following the birth of her two children, Tiffany was overweight and felt she lacked the energy to tackle life’s little challenges. One evening, Tiffany went to her wardrobe in search of something to wear to a dinner event only to find that the dress she had bought only a few months earlier didn’t fit. A frantic search through her wardrobe revealed she could no longer squeeze in to any of her evening outfits. Tiffany dreaded the thought of buying a new ‘bigger’ wardrobe and this was her turning point. She decided to get her health on track and hired a personal trainer.

Fast forward to 2010 and Tiffany has done what most of us only dream of – turning her passion into a profession. She is now a fully qualified Personal Trainer who regularly competes in triathlons. Tiffany enjoys working with her clients to fulfil their own health and fitness goals. She knows first hand, how liberating a healthy body can be.

Q & A WITH TIFFANY

  • Why did you become a personal trainer?
  • I want to encourage other people to achieve what I have in terms of overhauling my body shape, size and fitness level. I now have endless energy and I want other people to experience how good it feels to be in the best shape you can be.

I discovered that I was good at motivating other people to exercise and enjoyed doing this. I completed my Certificate 3 and Certificate 4 in Fitness to get a sound knowledge base behind me and then I was away. I love being a personal trainer – I’m a social person and it’s a great opportunity to meet interesting people and have lots of fun.

  • Why is health and fitness so important to you?
  • As a mum, it’s important that I am a good example for my two kids. I want to show them the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and teach them about balance. After all, we should all be able to enjoy nice treats from time to time. I am goal orientated so I get a real kick out of meeting my own fitness goals and watching my clients achieve theirs.

  • How do you stay in shape?
  • My passion is triathlon. I train weekly covering the three sports; swimming, running and cycling. My whole family is quite active so even on the weekends we tend to get out and get moving.

  • Describe your training style?
  • I follow a few simple rules:

  • Establish good habits – I want to help my clients establish good habits for maintaining their fitness which they can easily apply in their every day routines.  I can help them instil the self discipline to ensure exercise becomes a normal part of their life.

  • Results driven – Everyone needs to have a goal that is measureable and achievable for them.  Reaching goals and milestones is excellent motivation throughout a weight loss or fitness journey.  It is really important that my clients feel that they have improved or achieved something after training with me.

  • Keep it interesting – One of the most common reasons people stop exercising is boredom. That’s why I like to mix it up in my training sessions incorporating different settings, equipment and methods. You will be amazed at the type of sessions I dream up!

  • I’m kind but tough – Tough in that I can discern when I need to challenge my clients or support them.

  • Work within your limits- It’s important to know your strengths and play to these and work on those things that need improving. I take the time to understand my clients so I can ensure they get the best possible workout, without pushing it too far.

  • HAVE FUN!

  • What kind of people do you train?
  • I attract a wide variety of clients from mums with babies that need a workout at their home to athletes wanting to improve their performance in their sport. I also work with a number of women and men who have not exercised before and want to bring a healthier lifestyle to fruition.

  • What's the best piece of 'health' advice you've heard?
  • Go to an Australian Accredited Dietitian or a nutritionalist and get a food plan. For many overweight people there can be an underlying problem. The initial outlay is well worth the effort, as you don’t want to end up back where you started. It was the best thing I ever did.
